Open Bible falls in deciding game 3 of semifinals

LILBURN — Barnes Academy scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh, and rallied to defeat Open Bible 8-7 in the deciding game 3 of the Georgia Christian Athletic Association semifinals on Saturday.

Barnes’ C.J. Smith tied the game with a bases clearing triple, then beat the throw home on a ground ball to score the game-winning run.

Open Bible had won the first game and Barnes had taken the second game. Game 3 had to be moved to Killian Hills Christian School in Lilburn — 96 miles away — due to heavy rain that left Barnes’ field in Hartwell unplayable.

Barnes led 2-1 early on, but Open Bible came back and took leads of 5-2 in the fifth inning and 7-4 in the sixth, before Barnes’ final rally.

Open Bible’s Nathan Infante hit a two-run homer and drove in four runs for the Warriors. Holden Highsmith went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. John William Worsley was 2 for 3 and scored two runs. Will Krivachek and Colton Jenkins had two hits apiece.
