Valdosta State football player Jake Thomas has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Football Team, according to an announcement made by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Thomas earned the honor after accumulating a 3.86 grade point average as a Business Management major.
On the field, Thomas started all 10 games at center for the Blazers and graded out at 95.7 percent, second-best on the squad, and received a positive grade on 652 of 681 plays on the year. The Suwanee native tallied 35 knockdown blocks on the season, while allowing only one sack and one quarterback hit.
The 2012 honor marks the second time Thomas has been named to the Academic All-District Team. He also earned the honor in 2010 as a sophomore. By earning the honor this year, he advances to the ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America squad.
To earn Capital One All-District honors, a player must hold a 3.20 grade point average or better and play a significant role on his team.
