Nine Blazers named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

VSU softball team won national championship, had a 3.16 team GPA

VALDOSTA — Nine members of Valdosta State’s national championship softball team have been named All-America Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association.

Graduating seniors Julia Fink, April Hutchens and Natalia Morozova were all chosen All-America Scholar-Athletes. Also being named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes were center fielder Courtney Albritton, infielder Allison Coulter, outfielder Fran Johnson, pitcher Abigayle Kohler and catcher Angela O’Connor. Also bringing home the honor was last season’s Elite 89 Award winner, pitcher Brianna Hancock.

In the classroom, the Blazers finished with a 3.16 grade point average. On the field, they had a 58-5 overall record and went 26-1 in Gulf South Conference play, en route to winning the Division II national championship.
