Josh Perry of Valdosta won the 2013 James Eunice Legacy 5K road race on Saturday morning. Perry completed the race in 21:24.
Jordan Weise of Lake Park was second with a time of 21:26. Jacob Bearrentine of Valdosta finished third with a time of 22:01. Daniel McCauley finished fourth (22:56).
Angie Bruhl of Valdosta was the female winner. She finished fifth overall with a time of 23:32.
Aubrey Suddarth and Debbie Green of Valdosta were the next two women to finish. They finished sixth and seventh overall, with identical times of 23:42.
Briggs Hightower of Valdosta took eighth, running the race in 23:44. Joey Castleberry of Lake Park was ninth, in 23:48. Scott Wiza of Valdosta placed 10th, finishing in 24:51.
Makenzee Page of Ray City finished 11th overall, and fourth among female runners, with a time of 24:53. Mackenzie Rexroth of Valdosta was the fifth female finisher, completing the race in 25:42.
Weise, Castleberry, Wiza, Cameron Phillips of Valdosta and Bobby Goddard finished first in their age groups. Suddarth, Green, Page, Rexroth and Tori Holmes of Lake Park also won their age groups.
Both of James Eunice’s parents competed in the race. His father John finished eighth in his age group and his mother Tammy finished ninth in her age group.
All proceeds from the race benefit the James Eunice Scholarship Fund. The scholarship was founded in memory of James Eunice, a former football and baseball player at Valdosta High School who passed away in 2011. The fund gives away scholarships to college-bound high school seniors.
