Eleven Blazers named to GSC All-Academic team

VALDOSTA — Eleven Valdosta State student-athletes have been named to the Gulf South Conference All-Academic teams in a vote of the league Sports Information Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives, as announced by the conference Friday.

To be eligible for the All-Academic teams, a student-athlete has to have at least a 3.20 grade point average, have completed one year at the institution and played a significant role in the team's play during the fall semester.

The women's soccer team led the way for Valdosta State as it garnered four of the 14 positions on the All-Academic soccer squad.

Blakely McClellan was the only unanimous selection to the team after tallying a 3.76 grade point average as a Marketing major.

She was joined on the team by Abbi Edwards, who owns a 3.95 GPA in Middle Grades Education, Olivia Mills, who owns a 3.37 GPA in Exercise Physiology, and Caroline Moore, who has tallied a 3.58 GPA as a Communication Disorders major.

All four of the VSU soccer players are in their junior year with the school.

Both the football and men's cross country teams tallied three honorees each.

For football, a pair of offensive lineman earned the honor as Colin Glasco, who garnered a 3.61 grade point average in Computer Science, and Michael Miller, who owns a 3.36 GPA in Exercise Physiology, both garnered the honor.
