The Georgia Guns have recently returned from winning the 13U Grand Slam World Series in Panama City Beach, Fla., this is after winning the USSSA 13U Southwest State Championship (June 15-16).
The Guns headed to Panama City Beach June 24-30 with their eyes set on competing for a World Series Title.
The kids competed against teams from Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana in hopes of winning the Grand Slam 13U World Series and they did just that by running the table and going undefeated (5-0) in World Series play. The Guns out hit, out hustled and outscored their opponents (55-14).
The Georgia Guns are made up of ten players coming from three different schools, five from Lowndes Middle School, four from Hahira Middle School and one from St. John’s Catholic School.
The Georgia Guns ended their season with an overall record of 21-7, but began their season 9-7 before rattling off 12 straight victories by outscoring their opponents (140-36).
During this steak the Georgia Guns captured the Grand Slam Southeastern Championship, the USSSA Southwest State Championship and the Grand Slam 13U World Series.
Prior to the streak the Georgia Guns found themselves playing in a consolation bracket in two straight tournaments.
The team gained a whole new respect and understanding of the game from the experience. From that point on they constantly pressed their opponents by never taking a pitch off whether on offense or defense. Coaches encouraged the team, sat back and enjoyed the ride.
