Blazers fail to claim share of GSC title
VALDOSTA — Despite not playing Saturday night, the Valdosta State football team was hoping to be able to celebrate more than Thursday’s win.
The Blazers (7-2) were hoping to celebrate a share of the Gulf South Conference championship.
Instead, the Blazers still trail West Alabama and need help. VSU would have clinched a share of the conference championship if West Alabama would have been upset by rival Delta State. Instead, the Tigers routed the Statesmen 37-7 in Cleveland, Miss. to remain undefeated in conference play.
Valdosta State can still clinch a share of the GSC title if West Alabama losses to North Alabama in two weeks.
The Blazers host Texas A&M-Kingsville Thursday night in their regular season finale.
