VSU volleyball sweeps Union

VALDOSTA — Valdosta State put together an impressive effort against Union Sunday and came out on top, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-20).

With the win, VSU improves to 15-12 overall and 7-7 in GSC play.

 Tania Tauiliili and Katie Onushko led the way offensively for Valdosta State combining for 29 kills. The duo helped the team hit for a .222 attacking percentage while holding Union to just a .116.

 Ashley Lala added 39 assists and 11 digs while Onushko and Chelsea Luttfring both had team highs in digs with 14. Lelalelei Nomura joined Lala as the only other double digit diggers with 11 as well.

For Union, Kristen Cook led the way with 12 kills while Linsey Mirtsching added nine. Lydia Wright had 24 digs and libero Elise Seufert had 17 digs. Lauren Sprouse added 10 digs to the defensive effort.

 Valdosta State’s most impressive set was the first when the team hit for a .333 attacking percentage and put away the Bulldogs, 25-18.

The Blazers will next be in action against Albany State at 7 p.m. Tuesday in The Complex.
