The Cook Hornets are heading to the playoffs for a remarkable 25th consecutive season, following an 18-2 rout over Pelham on Tuesday night.
The Hornets’ win, and an Early County loss to Berrien, clinched the playoff berth with two region games remaining for Cook.
On Tuesday night, the Hornets scored seven runs in the first inning, one in the second, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and seven in the sixth, pounding out 13 hits along the way, to secure the win.
Blake Daughtrey was 2 for 5 with four runs batted in and two runs scored to lead the Hornets. Dalton Rentz, Jake Walker and Blake Cowart each drove in a pair of runs, while Sam Goberdhan, Chris Baker, Ross Pickle and Braden McLaughlin each drove in a run. On the night, 12 different Hornet players scored runs.
