NORCROSS — Cook High’s football team is heading to the Dome.
Cook earned a spot in the state semifinals with a 34-20 victory over Greater Atlanta Christian Friday night. The Hornets (10-3) will face Lovett at noon next Saturday in the Georgia Dome.
This will be Cook’s first trip to the Dome since 2001. The Hornets were the only No. 4 seed still alive after the second round of the playoffs.
Cook running back Thad Williams carried the Hornets Friday night, rushing for 249 yards on 22 carries, catching a 32-yard touchdown pass and intercepting a GAC pass at the Cook 5. He scored on runs of 26, 75 and 53 yards.
After falling behind 7-0 early, the Hornets scored 16 straight points, and led 16-14 at halftime, after a GAC score late in the second quarter.
Cook then blew open the game with three third-quarter touchdowns, two by Williams, which made it 34-14.
GAC scored a late touchdown, but it wasn’t enough.
