NASHVILLE — The Berrien High softball team has qualified for the Class AA Elite Eight in Columbus this weekend.

Berrien, which is ranked No. 6 in AA, will open the tournament at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Lady Rebels will face the No. 9 LaFayette Lady Ramblers.

Berrien qualified for the Elite Eight after outscoring their three opponents in the South Sectionals by a combined score of 24-2.

In the first game, the Lady Rebels defeated Metter, 16-0, in four innings. Ivy McCranie and Meagan Lindsey pitched a combined no-hitter.

Berrien had 16 hits in the rout of Metter. Victoria Littlefield went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and a home run, and drove in four runs. Angela Barkman was also 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Kellie Moore, Ivy Lancaster and Olivia Moffett each had two hits.

In its second game, Berrien defeated Jeff Davis by a score of 5-1. McCranie was the winning pitcher, holding Jeff Davis to three hits and striking out eight. Littlefield went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Kelly Kendrick hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning, which broke a 1-1 tie.

The Lady Rebels then booked their trip to Columbus with a 3-1 win over Screven County.

McCranie picked up her 19th win of the year, pitching a complete game, striking out six and allowing two hits and an unearned run.

Littlefield, Ashley Lee, Emily Lee, Barkman, Moffett and Kendrick each had one hit for Berrien.

Berrien has won the past four Region 1-AA championships and has qualified for Elite Eight two of the last three years. The Lady Rebels are now 31-3 on the year. Their 31 wins has set a school record.
