VSU falls to Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala. — Valdosta State’s volleyball team (9-13, 0-5) continues to struggle this season. Friday night, they fell on the road to Montevallo in five games.

VSU won the first two games, each by a score of 30-25, but the Lady Falcons came back and won the final three games, 30-21, 30-17, and 15-13. VSU will face West Alabama today at 1 p.m.

Henderson tourney raises money

VALDOSTA — The fourth annual Doug Henderson III Fund golf tournament and silent auction raised thousands of dollars to support the fight against cancer.

The winning team in the golf tournament was the team of Charles Tarpley, Jerry Don Baker, Blake DeCesare and Marty McGhin. Joe Murphy, Ed Rogers, John Hathcock and Paul Fenkbill finished second, followed by John Dennis Wetherington, Steven Hall, Joe Patterson and Danny Knight. David Parker, Dale Parker, Jamie Harris and Ted Welch placed fourth, while Earl Holmes, Carla Holmes, Frankie Gay and Derek Kolitz took fifth. Carla Holmes won the longest drive competition. DeCesare won closest to the pin.
