JEKYLL ISLAND — The Lowndes High boys golf team wrapped up a big year with a second-place finish at the Class AAAAA state tournament on May 5.

The team shot rounds of 291 and 300 for a two-round total of 591 to finish tied for second with Peachtree Ridge. Harrison won the tournament with a score of 570.

Lowndes’ Tyler Hogan finished third in the state with a 144. Hogan had a strong first round, posting a 68. Sam Straka was just two strokes behind, with a 146. Trey McQuaig shot a 149. Ty Howze carded a 153, Chase Hankla finished with a 154 and Sepp Straka shot a 158.

The Vikings were the Region 1-AAAAA champions this year.
