ADEL — Cook’s baseball team swept its first-round playoff series with Southeast Bulloch Friday at Bruce Long Field. The Hornets won the first game, 4-0, then dominated the second game, 16-0.
Kaleb Cowart got the win in game 1, holding Southeast Bulloch to four hits and striking out seven. Josh Barks, Parker Nix, Jacob McDowell and Austin Steele each had an RBI for Cook.
Cook dominated game 2, wrapping up the win in five innings. D.J. Johnson pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven batters, and also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and two RBIs. Cowart was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Barks was 3-for-4 with five RBIs. Wes Warren went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, while Justin Sadler went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Cook will host the Vidalia-Savannah Christian winner on Wednesday.
