Valdosta boys, Lowndes girls win

STATENVILLE — Echols County’s basketball teams swept Irwin County Friday night.

Jacob Brantley scored 24 points, leading Echols County’s boys to a 67-65 win over Irwin. JoJo Tucker scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Staten Levings scored 11.

Echols’ girls dominated most of the game, and won 67-43 Friday. Shericka Nobles scored a game-high 20 points for the Lady Wildcats, and also had seven steals. Ciera Staten had a double-double, scoring 17 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Glennie Wicks added 11 for Echols (6-4).

Echols’ junior varsity girls annihilated Irwin, 46-11. The Lady Wildcats held Irwin to just one point in the first half. Breanna Highsmith led Echols with nine points.

Echols hosts Ware Magnet tonight and Bacon County on Tuesday.

Lanier beats Atkinson

LAKELAND — Emmanuel Ezoua scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, leading Lanier County to a 63-47 win over Atkinson County Friday.

Anthony Ethridge scored 12 points, while Malik Kone added 10.

Lanier (11-4, 5-0) hosts Ware Magnet Tuesday.
