NASHVILLE — Kyle Farnsworth, a relief pitcher for the Kansas City Royals, is set to host the Fun Day in the Park Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Berrien County Recreation Nat Hudson Park Complex in Nashville.
Farnsworth and six other major leaguers will host a variety of events during Fun Day, including a pitching clinic, a hitting clinic and an archery contest. Farnsworth, who has also pitched for the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees, and the other major league players will also hold a brief autograph session.
“We are really excited about Kyle and his friends coming to Berrien County,” said King Bridges, the director of the Berrien County Recreation Department. “The event is sure to be a fun-filled afternoon, whether you are looking for a few pointers before the start of the baseball season, or if you’re a fan of the sport.”
The event will also feature two bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, a silent auction with sports memorabilia and other items. Admission is $2 per person and children under four will be admitted free.
Before the Fun Day in the Park, the Berrien County Recreation Department will hold its fourth annual 5K run and 1-mile walk/run. Registration for the 5K is $30 and registration for the walk/run is $20. In the 5K, prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female winners, as well as the top male and female in the following age groups: 10-under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70-over. Prizes will also be awarded in the walk/run to the first male and female overall and the first male and female and winners under 12.
