The Lowndes Middle School cheerleading program brought home its first national championship Saturday. The team competed in the 2016 Contest of Champions nationals competition held at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in the Jostens Center in Orlando, Florida. Scoring a 91.950, they were named the Contest of Champions Jr. High/Middle School Division and Level National Champions. The members of the 2016 nationalchampionship team are Katie Barker, Victoria Beckstrom, Elise Fletcher, Ava Grace Flynn, Macie Hall, Mary Beth Hendley, Joy Isom, Carlie Kirkland, Bailey Mullis, Savannah Pannell, Payton Rowan, Natalie Rozier, Cassidy Selph, Ashley Strickland, Katelyn Wade, Haleigh Watson, Brianna Wester, and Brailey Weaver. They are coached by head coach Kayla Evans and assistant coach Courtney Wright.
