VALDOSTA -- The All-GSC team selections are out, and the Blazers have one second team and three first team players.

Defensive end Tim Thompson, right tackle Richard Collier, and kicker Michael Green made first team. Defensive lineman Dedrick Morrison made the second team. All of them are seniors.

Central Arkansas led the selections with 11 players making it, including seven first teamers. Bears quarterback Nathan Brown won freshman of the year, and coach Clint Conque won coach of the year. North Alabama also had 11 selections including five first teamers.

Thompson, a four year letterman from Sparta, became the 42nd player in Gulf South Conference history to make the first team three years in a row. Thompson led the team in tackles (55), tackles for a loss (13) and sacks (4).

Collier, a juco transfer from Tyler, lettered for his second season with VSU. The size (6-foot-7, 325 pounds) and leadership Collier brought to the Blazers were vital this season as many of the linemen went down with injuries.

Both Thompson and Collier have been drawing interest from the NFL.

Green, who is from Orange Park, Fla., was the team's leading scorer this season with 94 points. After getting off to a rough start Green finished strong making 13 field goals in a row to finish 19-26 including a 52 yarder. Green was also perfect on extra points, 37-37.

Dedrick Morrison (5-foot-11, 240 pounds) made the second team for the first time in his career. Morrison, from Ocoee, Fla., finished with 36 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, and two sacks.

The player of the year awards went to: Delta State quarterback Scott Eyster (offensive) and West Georgia linebacker Kelvin Morris (defensive).
