VALDOSTA — Recipients of the Georgia Power Good Citizenship Awards were announced on March 15th at Valwood's Lower School Friday Flag program. Mr. Rick Green of Georgia Power presented the awards to the students who were chosen by their teachers. The awards are given to students exhibiting character traits such as honesty, integrity, empathy for fellow students and respect for teachers and one another. Mrs. Rhonda Hamman, Dean of the Lower School, presented Mr. Green with a gift of appreciation on the occasion of his retirement.

Students Examine Corrosion of Steel in Pipelines
A good pipeline system is key in many industries, including gas, petroleum, and pulp and paper. Pipeline corrosion can compromise the integrity and safety of proper transporting of goods and result in the loss of millions of dollars in engineering structures that are made with steel. With this in mind, students in Valdosta State University’s Engineering Studies Program have explored factors that lead to the corrosion of steel used in the pipeline industry.
VSU Student Named Director of Georgia Residence Hall Organization
Joshua Arrington, a Valdosta State University student, was voted the Georgia Residence Hall Organization (GRHO) director for the 2014-2015 academic year at a conference in Atlanta on March 22.
