New minibus for Lowndes County 4-H

VALDOSTA — Lowndes County 4-H honored County Commissioners and local businesses for their support of the 4-H program in the recent purchase of a new Lowndes County 4-H minibus at its Kids Dig It Thank You Luncheon held in December.

The purchase of the minibus was the result of efforts from local citizens, 4-H’ers, community workers, businesses and Lowndes County Commissioners. Lunch was served to thank all the companies and community members for supporting this endeavor throughout the years. Following the luncheon, representatives toured the minibus.

The funds toward the new minibus were raised through a partnership with the Lowndes County Commissioners, and Lowndes County 4-H raised a portion through its annual Kids Dig It fundraiser, which is a fun and educational experience for community members of all ages. Money had been raised for more than six years to purchase the state-of-the-art minibus. The minibus is used for afterschool programming for Lowndes County youth and local and state 4-H events. To learn more about exciting opportunities offered through Lowndes County 4-H, contact the Lowndes County Extension office at 229-333-5185, or visit the website at www.ugaextension.com /lowndes.
