QUITMAN — Brooks County Schools nutrition department recognized each school within its system as earning a high percentage of students choosing school breakfast and lunch during the 2011-2012 school year. The principals from each school were recognized on August 13th during the school systems monthly school board meeting. Each school within the system met the following criteria: Lunch; Elementary 85 percent and above (state average is 81 percent); Middle School:89 percent and above (state average is 81 percent); High School: 72 percent and above (state average is 63 percent); PreL-12/other: 80 percent and above (state average is 76 percent); Breakfast; Elementary 59 percent and above (state average is 45 percent); Middle School: 46 percent (state average is 35 percent); High School: 34 percent and above (state average is 26 percent); PreK-12/other: 60 percent and above (state average is 52 percent).  Pictured (LtoR): Stephanie Wade, Nutrition Director; Patty Hancock, Quitman Elementary School Principal; Dr. Elena Ponder, Brooks County High School Principal; Tara Moss, North Brooks Elementary School Principal; Dr. Djana Goss, Brooks County Middle School Principal; Laura Sommerville, Nutrition Bookeeper and Kechia Harrison, Nutrition Administrative Assistant.
