There are so many people walking around talking on their cells in the stores and parking lot, that everyone thinks they are talking to themselves. It is dangerous and ridiculous that you can't do without a phone call for a few minutes.

The argument that pot is natural so it can’t be bad is such a silly argument. Poison ivy is also natural, want to smoke that? The point here is that there may be other arguments for/against legalizing pot, but please stop using this one. There may be benefits, but do they outweigh the negatives? Most of cannabis’ benefits can be gained through its oil without smoking.

Our Industrial Authority is a joke. They are not only ineffective, but hang on to the shirt tails of businesses that are expanding, as though they had something to do with it. Maybe they will count themselves as a "new business" with the purchase of their new building. Just another authority in Valdosta that has to beg unqualified members of the community to join their board.

Less than a week ago a VSU student was killed while doing exactly what she was supposed to do while walking across the road. However, that fact does not seem to cross the mind of these college students who cross the street where there are no crosswalks, without looking.

Gotta love the new Industrial Authority’s fancy new Office located on Roosevelt Avenue. Nearly a million dollars of taxpayers money used to acquire the vacant building and renovate it. I believe there are plenty of vacant offices located all across town they could have just rented at a fraction of the cost. Just more waste of taxpayers’ money by the Industrial Authority.

Don’t put the battle against global warming on Christians. Yes they may be duped into voting for certain blocks because they are promised some of their principles are going to be upheld, but that is only for their vote, nothing gets done. It’s the Koch brothers and some big oil interests that are funding the war against global warming. Just because some of their unpaid talking parrots are Christians who spend more time watching nut-case “news” shows than they do in church, does not mean all Christians are involved.

No one wants to be around pot heads or the smoke. You never know who cannot handle it. It has caused many a heartache from suicides, murders, etc.

My challenge to the Valdosta community and the VDT is to identify a South Georgia community who has been more successful than Valdosta with industrial recruitment over the past five years. Albany? Moultrie? Thomasville? Tifton? Waycross? The Authority has announced significant projects including Martins, Home Depot, Smith Drugs, Steeda, John Deere Water Technologies. Get informed!

To all those who want to bring a business back because we "need" one. If we needed it how come it went out of business in the first place? Sure, some may go out because of poor management but the vast majority go out because they are not being supported and are losing money. This shows they were not "needed.”

The definition of climate is average weather conditions over a long period of time (e.g. a year). The definition of weather is what is happening day to day. There can be extreme weather events throughout the year, and yes, there is variability in weather (and even climate). However, just because the weather in Valdosta has been a bit cool, it doesn't mean that global warming isn't happening. What it means when you say this is that you are using bad logic.
