Rants & Raves for Friday, November 8, 2013
Someone explain to me why a restaurant has to have a food permit, but a church can sell food at their fall festival without one? What is the difference? It seems that religious themed businesses need to either lose the tax exempt status, or stop making money off their members. Jesus didn't sell fish and loaves.

So, if you don't love, respect, and honor Faux Newz one automatically becomes a “liberal.” What kind of backwards mentality in this? I am not a "liberal" and I find Faux Newz to be nothing but a mindless mouthpiece of muddled misinformation and misdirection.

A big rave to Kelly and Jessica at Factor X fitness. They are always very polite and friendly in the mornings. They also seem to love their job and the kids.

I seriously question how some congregations in this town find the time to worship the Lord when they are so busy worshiping the pastor, first lady, ushers, usher’s wives, etc. Shame on the leadership for not focusing the church on where their eyes should be.

I will not be voting for current politicians in office that have sworn to uphold the law and then blatantly violate it. It is against the law to put signs in the right-of-way. I will not be voting for any current politicians that are currently breaking the law, especially in Lake Park. They should have their signs picked up by maintenance crews and fined.

I am undecided on SPLOST. Recently received a card in the mail from the Valdosta Tea Party asking me to vote no. As I started reading their points to vote no, I noticed some things that did not make sense. May I suggest that you review your math. If MOST raises $55M over three years, and SPLOST $150M over six years, how can you say you are saving $95M? One is a 6-year and one a 3-year tax.

Hate to break it to you, but I think Dwight D. Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan would be horrified by the Republican party at this point. And I doubt either of them would have made it out of the primaries today.
Raves for Wednesday, October 30, 2013
A big rave to the City of Valdosta for the new Woodrow Wilson Gornto Road connection. If this is what SPLOST can do then you have my vote. Very neat project!
Rant & Rave for Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013
What kind of a jerk would want to spoil a family’s wedding reception, simply because it got noisy? Have you ever been to a silent wedding party? This is a once-in-a-lifetime event; meant to be special. So much for good old Southern hospitality!
Rant and Rave for Monday, Oct. 28, 2013
Living on Williams Street has been a mess these past couple of months. On top of the fact that the city workers continue to block my driveway with their vehicles and inconvenience my ability to go home for lunch, they have damaged my yard, landscaping and flagged sprinkler system at what seems to be my expense. Completely unacceptable! Also, I sure do hope that they remove the extreme slant in the road prior to paving. It’s not exciting to see the rainwater now flooding into my yard!
