The Valdosta Daily Times
Unless you have used the bridge over Oak Street, you don't realize how steep it is. I never used it in the mid-1970's when I was at VSU. Give the students some slack. I couldn't care less about their jaywalking.
I am happy to have my job with Smith Northview Hospital. However, why should employees suffer for poor financial management from administration? We never asked to be bought by SGMC, who apparently should have kept that money to run their own hospital instead of purchasing Smith and Berrien.
I bet the same people complaining about SGMC's benefit changes are the same ones who voted for Obama and once supported Obamacare. Also, healthcare wouldn't cost so much if we didn't have to pay in for people who pay nothing at all!
I was going to complain about my employer, but then I chose to be thankful I still had a job.
Does anyone know who and why someone is placing round blue or white or red stickers on privately-owned residential mailboxes and what they mean? Maybe I didn't get the memo. I removed the ones on my mailbox (I decorate and accent my own mailbox!) but then they mysteriously appeared again days later. What's going on?
No more SPLOST. No more tax increase. Sell the city-owned 5 Points Center. Sell all of the Vallotton property the city purchased. Stop building new courthouses. Stay in Valdosta to do your work. And so it goes.
Why on Earth would a sixth- grade homeroom teacher at Pine Grove Middle tell her students that she "might not stand during the Pledge of Allegiance to America" because of "her beliefs?” I served in the military for this country, fought for it. I would rather she have just kept her opinions and beliefs to herself.
Answering a question: Per city ordinance 2008-9, section 11-6024, you may have no more than two horses, dogs, or cats on a single property. A third dog may be had if it is a trained service animal. They must have tags, and must be cared for. They can not annoy neighbors in any way, including barking. It takes some searching, but go to this web page for many of the city's ordinances, including animal control, noise, etc. www.valdostacity.com/
It sure would be nice to drive down Madison Highway, or Inner Perimeter Road and not see all the high grass!
