The Valdosta Daily Times

VALDOSTA — David Johnston's book "Free Lunch" is a great read discussing industrial development authorities, grants to business to come to town, pro ball parks and how much they cost local taxpayers, and government regulation. It is a good book, well documented.

I was at Sam’s Club gas station recently and I had trouble getting my card to work and Monica helped me. She is very polite and nice.

I just wanted to praise the Boys Track Team for Brooks High School on a job well done. They went to state meets and represented themselves well by bringing home three state championships. Good job, guys!

Good choice in a new coach Lady Vikettes!! Will be a turning point in the program and see much success headed your way.

I am thankful I chose to stick with Deep South Sanitation. Our trash is always picked up right on time and he never leaves anything behind. After all my neighbors' trash is "picked up," often items are strewn by the road and the cans are either left in the road or fallen in or beside the road. Get rid of the big company and move to Deep South, if you want true customer service!

I want to rave about the incredibly friendly staff at the Waffle House on Hwy. 84. They take the time to visit with customers and provide great service. You never disappoint!

My deepest sympathies to Susan Grooms on the loss of her spouse. I was very happy to see her column back in this morning's paper. I don't even know her but feel like she's a friend each Sunday when I read her column.

We would like to thank our neighbor, Mr. Jimmy Stephenson, for his help in putting up our horse fence. He helped make a young girl and her mom very happy!

I am not from Lowndes County, but I wish the picture of the Lowndes High Coach comforting one of his players could be shown nationwide.  What a great showing of leadership and example!

The Nashville Police Department and all of the sponsors on the back of my kids free T-shirt deserve a great big thanks. My family had an awesome time fishing and playing together at the Dogwood Classic fishing rodeo.

Rave to pharmacist Rich at Medicine Shoppe. He saved me a lot of money by telling my doctor to change my medicine and he probably saved my life. Rich and Carla provide the best pharmacy customer service in town.
