Rant & Rave for Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012

The Valdosta Daily Times

-- — Bicyclists have all the same rights as vehicles. Those who ride in the far right of the lane are often crowded (and endangered) by rude drivers who refuse to move over a safe distance to pass them, because they have “had it with bicyclists.” The edge is dangerous due to hazards, holes, AND from people like the ranter the other day.

I would like to thank Dr.  Griner’s office and the Winnersville walk in clinic. I have been in and out of the office with my now three month old daughter and every single time I have been in, the staff and doctors have been nothing but wonderful! There are times when we have to wait a while, but every visit has been great. The staff is attentive and you feel like the doctors actually care and know each patient. Keep up the great job!

To the person complaining about cyclists: GA HB101 defines three feet as the minimum safe distance while overtaking a bicycle on any roadway. If this isn’t possible, you must remain a safe distance behind the bike until you’re able to pass. If there were more designated bike lanes in Valdosta, I assure you most cyclists would prefer them to the rest of the road.

Another doctor that takes time to answer your questions and has great office help is Dr. Tom Anderson. While you might have to wait for him, when you get in the exam room, he will take as much time as you need to answer any questions you have. For a new mom, this is extremely important to me!

For respiratory problems, Dr.  Greg Beale. He takes up plenty of time with his patients and answers questions. His office personnel are wonderful and if you leave a message they will return your call in a timely manner.

Here’s a solution for T-shirts, luncheons, and anything a local school may want. The money made off local football games could be easily divided among the high, middle, and elementary schools for luxuries. If five thousand people go per game at ten dollars per person that is a $50,000 split among their schools. That’s just off tickets, not food sold at games. Where does the money go anyway?

Applause to the Sam’s Club members that obey the arrows at the gas station. Just about every time I get gas, there’s always a member going the wrong way.

I’m not much of a football fan but I gather that the reason why teams are escorted via police is so the buses can stay together and so traffic won’t get in between the buses while traveling to their destination.
