Rants & Raves for Friday, May 31, 2013

The Valdosta Daily Times

VALDOSTA — I hope that all of these high school kids don't get in to trouble over the summer break because of all the free time they will have. They should use their time wisely and be productive like doing volunteer work or something like that. Don't ruin your summer by making a bad choice or caving in to peer pressure.

Yet another high school graduation was ruined for me by those that insisted on yelling while the graduates’ names were being called. Are you proud of yourself? Did you think you were being cute by yelling and then leaving because you would be escorted out anyway? You only showed your ignorance and lack of respect for yourself, your graduate and no respect for others.

A presidential visit to any community puts tremendous stress on that community’s public safety resources (police, fire, EMS). The last thing the communities needed immediately following the tornadoes was a presidential visit; holding off until things became more settled was the right thing to do.

I am so tired of seeing broken glass left in the roadway after a car accident. Someone should take the responsibility to sweep it up and remove it.

While in Harvey’s in Hahira on Memorial Day, I had got more than what I had the money for. I stepped  outside to get money from my car and when I returned, some angel had already paid for the $3.11  that I owed. Thank you and God bless you!

A big rave to the funny little lady who is the baker at Texas Roadhouse. She bakes the best rolls and brownies in town!

OK Valdosta, you are keeping the reputation of the  third poorest city alive.  Landlords or management companies need to take responsibility and enforce the entants of themselves to clean up the yard. All it takes is  one in the neighborhood to ruin it.

Bemiss Road speedsters, I am driving 55 in a 45 already and you are tailgating me so close I can smell your breath, you speed around me and hey — now we are at the red light. We take off, you weave dangerously in and out of traffic risking lives, now we are at a red light. Please slow down. You’re not getting there any faster.

I think it's terrible of that couple trying to take advantage of peoples' kindness. They aren't the only ones. There has been a lady in the Walmart parking lot who is approaching people, saying she needs gas money to get home to Madison. I have friends she's done this to.
