The Valdosta Daily Times

VALDOSTA — To those saying we should have a skating rink in Valdosta, does no one remember not too long ago when Jungle Jym’s had a skating rink? Lazy parents dropped their kids off and didn’t pick them up when they closed. This resulted in cops being called. ... Maybe if parents would actually watch their 12-to 17-year-olds we would still have a skating rink.

As a teacher you should not make fun of where your students live. If your heart is in the wrong place with no compassion, get out. Just because you have money, nice home and clothes, it doesn’t make you any better.

To all those complaining about the lack of a skating rink, why not open one yourself? Obviously you all believe it is a good money-making business. Open one and stop complaining.

It’s pretty sad that once again the employees of SGMC EMS have to consider pooling their hard-earned money to buy chairs for a station that hasn’t had new ones in almost 10 years. SGMC can buy every hospital in South Georgia, but can’t take care of its own people ... sad.

To the person talking about the vacant lot. The person should not have to sell it because people are too lazy or unable to afford trash service. My question to you is, how would you feel if someone was dumping trash in your yard? Would it be appropriate for me to tell you to sell it?

The Valdosta Middle School track is a great place to exercise and I’m thankful it’s open to the public. However, if you bring small children out there please keep an eye on them. It can be dangerous for them to stand in the middle of the track, messing with runners as they go by.

Cracker Barrel has the best mac & cheese in town ... hands down. Their servers always have good attitudes and are on top of things, too. I just wish all the old folks wouldn’t stare at my husband and I while we eat.

The flags at S.L. Mason Elementary School should be replaced before the children return on Aug. 7. Those torn, faded, tattered, ratty-looking flags are a disgrace and show the kids how little the school administration respects the nation and the troops who are fighting for the nation. Those flags have been that way for months! Shame!

Adults use children sometimes to do the dirty work. They think no one will call them out on it or that it’s just a kid thing. They grow up to steal and commit worse crimes.
