VALDOSTA — The VDT really needs to put and keep the wreck stories in the news. Everyone needs to know the who, what, where, why, how, and when of these wrecks. It's valuable information and could possibly help save lives if we know what happened and why. Don't keep this kind of information a secret. This is actually news that is fit to print.
Mayor said the City has $304.5 million in assets. So what? My big asset, my home, looks good on the tax assessors $70,000 books, but nobody has offered near that for years. Asking price now $40,000 and still no takers. Everybody in the U.S. knows home values dropped by half since 2009. We need a lawyer to investigate fraudulent property tax assessment and taxing.
VDT, please keep doing what you're doing! We need more local news; not less.
Again, Obama gave the same unemotional lack of concern speech about the loss of American lives in Boston that he showed with Fort Hood, Benghazi and the Hurricane Sandy destruction. He goes through the motions and that's it. He shows more emotion about his parties and his golfing than for the American people. Because of him, no one fears us!
I agree with the ranter about the Boys and Girls Club on Lake Laurie. It looks exactly like it was when I went there 20 years ago, and it had an awful urine smell one day. I'd also like to know why the other new and updated Boys and Girls Club is apparently $20/semester and Lake Laurie is $25/week. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Some people live in a certain area because that's all they can afford, not necessarily because they want to live there. I'm sure every family wants to send their child (or children) to the best school possible. But, unfortunately, economics plays a big part in where families send their kids to school. I wish I could move to wherever the grass is greener.
