VALDOSTA — Attention, newlyweds! I attended two local weddings this spring, and I have yet to receive acknowledgments for the wedding gifts. How do I know that you received them if you don’t send thank yous? I know you have several months to accomplish this, but procrastination doesn’t make the obligation go away or make it any easier ... out of sight, out of mind!
It’s not that my business didn’t have a few dollars to give to your ball team, it’s the fact that you come into my business soliciting when there’s a clear sign on the door that states no soliciting. There’s even a no soliciting sign for the entire business complex as you drive in.
I was in total shock when your young children were not being better watched over while bagging heavy meats on top of bread, canned goods on top of eggs. Not to mention the two bags of my groceries that they placed into the lady’s buggy ahead of me. Would they care to reimburse me for the $20-$30 worth of missing items I paid for?
I fail to comprehend how our county can have budget cuts, yet departments such as Parks and Recreation can afford to cater meals for board members and full-time employees and waste money on luxuries, such as ergonomics to see if they are sitting correctly in their chairs. I say it is past time to have these departments audited and see where our tax money is going.
To the person upset at business owners not giving a few dollars to the school ball players: Maybe those business owners give their money to real charities or maybe they really don’t have the money. High school ball isn’t the most important thing in the world to everyone that lives in this town.
