The Valdosta Daily Times

-- — When did being a “Progressive” become such an evil? Is there something wrong with wanting a better future by being better than the day before, putting close mindedness behind and working towards doing something ... progressive? It doesn’t matter if you’re on the Right or the Left. Progress, people! It makes the world change!

I agree with the Valdosta firefighter. Why is it that our emergency personnel as a whole make so little when they risk so much? Any care to wonder what the city manager and council members make. I’m sure more than the men and women that risk the most.

I attended “Nunsense” at Valdosta High School Performing Arts Center this weekend and it was glaringly obvious the difference in venues when comparing it with Lowndes High School. They were provided the luxury of air-conditioning, lighted restroom facilities and working lights in the theatre. LHS administration and Board of Education has been asked to remedy this for LHS Drama and it continues to be ignored, you should be ashamed of the insufficient support, safety, and facilities you provide for your drama department and students.

If your business allows open weapons carry could you please hang a sign on your front door staying this so I will know to avoid visiting your business. Bars and churches included. Thank you!

Please stop and think of the many cancer survivors and family members who have watched their loved ones battle this horrible disease. There is no courage in posting a pic of yourself to Facebook with no makeup on, and nothing is learned about cancer by your doing so. Cancer is an ugly, horrible, wretched disease, and comparing that to no makeup is a slap.

I live several blocks from the site of the old mill in Remerton, and I also had a rat problem. I actually had one come in the house, but thankfully caught it in a trap. I’ve lived in this house for 33 years and never had a problem before, so I’m convinced it came from the demolition of the old mill. The rat problem should have been taken care of before tearing the buildings down.

To the person who wants no drug testing for welfare. If I have to pass a drug test to get and keep a job then I think the ones sitting at home drawing from my check that I work hard for pass a drug test to receive the benefits. I am not saying that all people who receive welfare do drugs but it will cut a lot off.
