VALDOSTA — Great article on the upcoming Toy Ride sponsored by the Outback Riders of Valdosta. I appreciate what you do for this community and look forward to this event every year!

The Nativity performed by A Time To Dance Performing Arts Studio was an incredible and very moving show. Awesome job to Patricia Nealey who directed and to all the dancers who did an outstanding job.

To the person questioning why fire hydrants are running, it has to be done to maintain the quality of the water in the system by drawing the chlorine into areas of relatively low usage to keep bacteria from forming in the water. Chlorine residual levels are mandated by the state.

Amazing! I called the County Department of Public Works today to find out when additional information will be provided to citizens about what we needed to do, and when, to be in compliance with the new solid waste removal ordinance approved by the Commissioners on 12/11/2012. The response was: “We have nothing to do with that!” Huh?

To view the Christmas Light Show in Madison just travel down Madison Highway from Valdosta towards Madison. The light show will be on the right-hand side once you go through the little town of Hanson. You really can’t miss it!

Thanks to the Georgia Department of Transportation for finally picking up the trash on Madison Highway. It’s amazing how many people openly throw their trash out while riding right in front of you. That is a very well-traveled highway with folks coming from Florida. We ought to take a little more pride in the Lowndes County area.

You ever notice how often you hear, “There are some good people left”? There are awesome, loving people all over this area who would give the very shirt off of their backs to help others. Sure, we have our share of jerks, but this city is full of wonderful people. Blessed to live here.

If zoning is there to protect the businesses and residents who are already there, why is the Lake Park elected officials wanting to approve a change that does not benefit the people who are already there? Shame on Lake Park mayor and council.

Valdosta Daily Times, you have done a remarkable job in keeping our community posted about the waste treatment situation. Please look into our gasoline crisis situation. I just returned from Florida where I bought gasoline 20 cents per gallon cheaper than what is being charged in Valdosta. Something is wrong with this picture.

I want to thank Brittney who has been my family’s favorite waitress at Cheddar’s since they opened their doors. Saturday night was no exception. She never lost her composure while I witnessed some crude treatment from the customers seated near us. Keep your head up.

VDT, please refrain from posting gun control comments. My son and I were at breakfast and he mentioned the low price of assault rifles at a gun show. I said that I was opposed to these. Two fellows overheard this and on their way out, the larger one said that I sounded like some the "communists" writing against America in the newspaper. He said that if were up to him I would be “lined up.” He got into a dilapidated Dodge pickup with anti-Obama, pro NRA, and a Baptist Church bumper sticker.

It wasn’t  Remerton where  the rats were escaping to Azalea Drive, it was  from the raw sewage. At least  they are smarter than people.

Thomas Jefferson said that we don't keep and bear fire arms for any other reason than to protect ourselves from tyrannical government action. That is why the liberals are trying to suppress Christians’ freedom of speech and why the government is trying to label gun ownership as a bad idea.

The Swiss issue all adult men a firearm. Owning a gun does not condone, or create, violence. Lay blame on the person not the tool. If you really believe that banning firearms will end the violence you are sadly misled. All that will happen is law abiding people will not have guns and the criminal (who doesn't obey the law anyway) will.

I don't know of any gun owners who fantasize about being "the good guy with a gun." Just when you think you have heard the most ignorant statement possible, along comes one that tops them all.

Monday, I observed a woman at Walmart getting into her car, with two boys around the age of 8, one of which seated a young infant on his own lap in the rear seat, not using his seat belt. As the lady began backing out, I jumped out of my car and asked her to put that baby in a car seat. Stupid! Please, parents, don’t have a kid, if you don’t care to put them in a seat belt, or wear yours.

To all Facebookers: You look like idiots when you post these “dares” of jumping in cold water or pictures without makeup. What do you think you are accomplishing? Absolutely nothing ... Send money to support the organizations and then you will be making a difference.
