The Valdosta Daily Times

VALDOSTA — SPLOST supporters, please read the Public Notices in the Friday paper each week. These are the friends and neighbors who have severe financial problems. I counted 59 foreclosures on one full page and there are 12 pages. Every dollar you pull out of the private sector lowers wages, profits and employment. Every dollar you spend in the public sector requires future expenses in maintenance, wages, repairs or in the case of property, reduces tax roles and shifts the burden to taxpayers. The city should be selling property, cutting budgets, reducing staff to pay for expenses. That is what the citizens you see in the paper are doing.

After six to eight years of hearing "there is no money for raises" and taking four furlough days per year, I can't help but wonder why a very select few at the Lowndes Board of Education received 40 and 50 percent raises. How about it, board members?

Strong, successful leaders lead by example. If their employees must experience cutbacks, strong leaders will cut their own benefits first, and usually to a greater extent, and ensure their employees know this. So South Georgia Medical Center leaders, where do you stand?

A scientific study of Valdosta's problems yielded the following findings: 1) Everyone should have their license revoked and start over with a driving course 2) Our kids are bored out of their minds and will probably move away and 3) Attorneys have ruined everything. Corrective measures should be taken at once.

I am tired of the comments that we ought to be thankful for our jobs and basically not complain about wrongdoing. SGMC employees are being told not to express their concerns, yet all the while the hospital is throwing away money left and right. And no, neither my spouse nor myself voted for Obama, and we do not support Obamacare.

Cannot believe you took the colored circles off your mail box. There are yellow ones on mine, and they are to let newspaper deliverers know who is supposed to get a paper. No matter who put them there I knew someone needed them there, else why bother?

Can someone please explain to me why Valdosta and Brooks County get free lunch meals at school but Lowndes not.

When is someone gonna release the latest autopsy report for KJ?

Yep, with all that's going on Valdosta really needs a catfish restaurant. Heck, that's all any place needs to fix its problems, more restaurants.
