Rant & Rave for Friday, Aug. 9, 2013

-- — Wait until the employees find out that SGMC allowed approximately 25 (50 with spouses) board, management and doctors to attend the VHA meeting in Florida in late spring. The venue was the Ritz Carlton. I understand they had to have their own room for meals. What do you think the bill was for 50 people for three days for meals, drinks, etc.?

The parents of those elite high school sorority girls in Saturday’s paper must be so proud. Pacifiers and pregnant bellies. Nice.

If the hours at SGMC have not been cut then why have I lost 24 hours off my next paycheck because I have been called off on my scheduled days? That is no rumor.

People complaining about salaries at SGMC, if you don't like it, quit. There are people out there who need a good job.

Stop the complaining about salary adjustments at Valdosta State. Helping those who make the least and the lower end salaries is not a bad thing. Great job VSU, for taking care of your employees.

Rename the Withlacoochee River to the Whiff-of-the-stinky River.

Does the City of Hahira have a code enforcement division? I'm tired of seeing Hahira "leaders" allow folks to live in their RV campers. Hahira seems to allow this to go on in people’s yards and even in the city's industrial park. These officials have been turning their heads on this matter for over a year now and it is getting worse.

I'd vote against SPLOST, but I don't think I could take another year of childish pouting from the Times editorial board.

Congress has a mountain of work on their plate and now they take a five week break. This is exactly why big government is not, and will never be, as effective as the private sector.

Chaining a dog 24/7 is nothing short of animal cruelty. It is time for our elected officials to pass a law against it.

Just announced in Atlanta that Valdosta came in first in the state for percent decrease in population for year 2013. Albany was No. 4. Do you suppose the City School System demographics have anything to do with this. City folks may not think consolidation was so stupid when we start playing in region A.

I truly believe if we are forced to accept Obamacare, then all the physicians should be  forced to accept it.

For every scientist you bring forth that says there is such a thing as global warming, I’ll bring two that says it is a myth.

I have a tip for the local restaurants who sell breakfast pastries and such. You open at 5 a.m. If your entire menu is not ready by 6 a.m. (or even 6:30), you need to reschedule your cooks. When you don’t have what we want, we do not come back. We take our business elsewhere. Use this info to improve yours businesses.

Thanks to the gentleman who stopped to help me change my tire on a bridge. I was trying to get my daughter to the doctor. Thanks to him, I was only five minutes late.

This town kills me. You expect to have your sewage problem that runs into the river, police and fire protection, road repairs and new paving, etc., without paying for it. Your taxes are nowhere near the taxes in many Northern states. Shaking my head, y’all.

You can enjoy a “wonderful” meal anywhere if you pay enough. Money talks.

A rave for the VDT editor who prints data from both sides of the global warming debate. Cal Thomas points out that global cooling is ignored by substituting computer model data instead of actual temperature data. Evidence tampering is a crime and these “deniers” should be prosecuted. Many nations ignore and refuse to participate in the “global warming” scam to transfer wealth from industrialized nations to developing nations.

Pay attention all residents of Lowndes County (including the cities). We voted for SPLOST, now they are raising our taxes anyway, instead of cutting back wasteful spending. Now it appears that the school board is joining in on wasting our tax money by raising the school tax for all residents. I suggest everyone start becoming an educated voter and find out what your candidate stands for before you cast your vote.
