Raves for Wednesday, June 19, 2013

VALDOSTA — Many, many thanks to the lady working at the jewelry county at Walmart on Norman Dr. She went well beyond the call of duty in helping me get a watch battery replaced.

I wanna give a big thanks to the Valdosta mall security guard when I was trying to shop this past weekend. Thanks to him and the other guards that I was able to move around. There were kids blocking stores standing around doing nothing. They made them move so I could get my stroller around. My real question is to the 13 year olds parents who left them at the mall alone and taught their child to make fun of authority figures and adults.

A big rave to Lowndes  County crews who are cleaning up the Bemiss roads and the median. That is a job. Some  businesses kept it up really well and some let it go. But Lowndes County crews are keeping it looking good.  Thank you

Thank you to Victoria at Winn-Dixie in Lake Park for  being honest. I left my cash back in the automatic check out. She found it, and turned it in. Great employee. Keep her Winn-Dixie.

I can't thank Jeremy at Kohl's enough for his help in buying my husband's suit. I am not able to operate those computers and order on-line, but he took the time and trouble; such patience plus I got to use my Kohl's cash. Best place to shop in town, and absolutely No Exclusions. Yeah!!

I would like to give a huge thank you to Yasmin at the Sanitation Dept. for going out her way to get our junk pile picked up even though we had been waiting almost two weeks to get it picked up. Thank You again!

Praise for Dean Poling's article, "Old Glory", citing the origins of our US flag and Flag Day. This should be required reading in our schools from 5th grade on up. Too many of our young children are clueless as to why they say the pledge of allegiance in the morning at school. This article captures the essence of this solemn (and, yes, patriotic) ritual and how it came to be. Great job, Dean!

Chaining a dog 24/7 is nothing short of animal cruelty. It is time for our elected officials to pass a law against it.

Just announced in Atlanta that Valdosta came in first in the state for percent decrease in population for year 2013. Albany was No. 4. Do you suppose the City School System demographics have anything to do with this. City folks may not think consolidation was so stupid when we start playing in region A.

I truly believe if we are forced to accept Obamacare, then all the physicians should be  forced to accept it.

For every scientist you bring forth that says there is such a thing as global warming, I’ll bring two that says it is a myth.

I have a tip for the local restaurants who sell breakfast pastries and such. You open at 5 a.m. If your entire menu is not ready by 6 a.m. (or even 6:30), you need to reschedule your cooks. When you don’t have what we want, we do not come back. We take our business elsewhere. Use this info to improve yours businesses.

Thanks to the gentleman who stopped to help me change my tire on a bridge. I was trying to get my daughter to the doctor. Thanks to him, I was only five minutes late.

This town kills me. You expect to have your sewage problem that runs into the river, police and fire protection, road repairs and new paving, etc., without paying for it. Your taxes are nowhere near the taxes in many Northern states. Shaking my head, y’all.

You can enjoy a “wonderful” meal anywhere if you pay enough. Money talks.

A rave for the VDT editor who prints data from both sides of the global warming debate. Cal Thomas points out that global cooling is ignored by substituting computer model data instead of actual temperature data. Evidence tampering is a crime and these “deniers” should be prosecuted. Many nations ignore and refuse to participate in the “global warming” scam to transfer wealth from industrialized nations to developing nations.

Pay attention all residents of Lowndes County (including the cities). We voted for SPLOST, now they are raising our taxes anyway, instead of cutting back wasteful spending. Now it appears that the school board is joining in on wasting our tax money by raising the school tax for all residents. I suggest everyone start becoming an educated voter and find out what your candidate stands for before you cast your vote.
