Rant & Rave for Monday, Feb. 10, 2014

-- — No one wants to be around pot heads or the smoke. You never know who cannot handle it. It has caused many a heartache from suicides, murders, etc.

If the folks in the Crestwood subdivision could put some reflectors or signs on their round-abouts that would be great. They are very hard to see in the dark.

The ranter who called President Obama his highness has lost all credibility when he shows no respect. A bipartisan congressional committee agrees with the White House’s conclusion on Benghazi. Our President loves America.

Have you seen signs on the churches that read “Bank”? It’s amazing how many people that don’t work, want work, will come to church when they want to beat money off some of the members. I thought it worked the other way around, put something in the plate, not take out of the plate.

Just got noticed that I have to pay for my child’s AP class final test at Lowndes High School! Our letter says the county has had to make budgets cuts. But that certain group of people that lives off the government gets this for free as well.

Your laughter only shows how gullible you are. Blame game, excuses, hypocrisy, bigotry, name calling, and race baiting are all the left seems to know. Maybe you should do some research such as Google “Rebel Pundits.” Northerners are wising up; it’s time the South does as well. By the way, Fox is the only ones who reported the Rebel Pundits last week, where was your network? Oh, they don’t broadcast the truth .

The person who thinks the “Christian Right” rejects the concept of climate change because of some biblically based state of confusion is delusional himself. Get a grip.

I would make a healthy bet that a majority of the ranters about Fox news, the Christian right and those mean, old Republicans are sitting on the couch drawing every subsidy they can sponge off the government and taxpayers.

One raved that the Industrial Authority here is the best loser among all the losers (Albany, Moultrie, Thomasville, Tifton, Waycross). It’s not how many new businesses open, it’s how many citizens have an income below poverty level. TitleTown’s is so great we got the title “third poorest city in the USA.” Yet our leaders still use the Detroit model. As if BRAC will not consider that when deciding to close Moody.

Thank you, Mayor Gayle, for hitting the nail on the head about lack of funding to repair the Wastewater Treatment Plant. When citizens vote against raising revenue, then the only alternative is to increase water/sewer rates. Mayor Gayle, we appreciate that you care for our city’s elderly and those on fixed incomes who can’t afford a doubling or tripling of their water/sewer bills. SPLOST is funded by out-of-town sales tax, and protects the most financially vulnerable of our citizens.

We don’t need Muslims flying airplanes around South Georgia. That is asking for trouble.

I was appalled to see where the mayor blamed the current administration for not providing grants to fix the sewage problem because “we voted wrong.” These problems didn’t begin in 2009, they have existed all along every time the water flow exceeded the ability of the plant to contain flooding issues. My question would be how many grants were awarded for the necessary repairs when “we voted right”? Why hasn’t the problem been solved already?

If zoning is there to protect the businesses and residents who are already there, why is the Lake Park elected officials wanting to approve a change that does not benefit the people who are already there? Shame on Lake Park mayor and council.

Valdosta Daily Times, you have done a remarkable job in keeping our community posted about the waste treatment situation. Please look into our gasoline crisis situation. I just returned from Florida where I bought gasoline 20 cents per gallon cheaper than what is being charged in Valdosta. Something is wrong with this picture.

I want to thank Brittney who has been my family’s favorite waitress at Cheddar’s since they opened their doors. Saturday night was no exception. She never lost her composure while I witnessed some crude treatment from the customers seated near us. Keep your head up.

VDT, please refrain from posting gun control comments. My son and I were at breakfast and he mentioned the low price of assault rifles at a gun show. I said that I was opposed to these. Two fellows overheard this and on their way out, the larger one said that I sounded like some the "communists" writing against America in the newspaper. He said that if were up to him I would be “lined up.” He got into a dilapidated Dodge pickup with anti-Obama, pro NRA, and a Baptist Church bumper sticker.

It wasn’t  Remerton where  the rats were escaping to Azalea Drive, it was  from the raw sewage. At least  they are smarter than people.

Thomas Jefferson said that we don't keep and bear fire arms for any other reason than to protect ourselves from tyrannical government action. That is why the liberals are trying to suppress Christians’ freedom of speech and why the government is trying to label gun ownership as a bad idea.
