The Valdosta Daily Times

-- — My new trash collection service is Deep South. They are absolutely wonderful. They deserve to have "service" in their name.

I noticed as well Fox News’ constant disrespect of the office by referring to President Obama as "The Anointed One,” "His Royal Highness,” etc. This is quite childish and unprofessional in my opinion and reflects upon their lack of courtesy and respect. To counter by saying that "the liberal press did this to Bush" does not pass scrutiny. By politically demeaning the man they demean the office. Two wrongs does not make a right.

There needs to be big changes within the Industrial Authority and the Chamber of Commerce. Each of these organizations have done little to nothing to help attract new industry to South Georgia. It’s time for new ideas, new leadership, new effort. If not, our local area will continue its downward slide.

The definition of climate is average weather conditions over a long period of time (e.g. a year). The definition of weather is what is happening day to day. There can be extreme weather events throughout the year, and yes, there is variability in weather (and even climate). However, just because the weather in Valdosta has been a bit cool, it doesn't mean that global warming isn't happening. What it means when you say this is that you are using bad logic.

Can someone please tell me why so few NFL players, coaches and staff place their hand over their heart when the National Anthem is played? These people are living the American dream, receiving huge salaries and they don't respect our country? It’s not ignorance because most announcers tell everyone to remove hats and where to put their hand. Anyone know why coaches don't instruct these guys how to behave?

Recently I went to the Social Security office in Valdosta to sign up for my retirement benefits. Out of the roughly 15 people signed in to talk to a rep about benefits, I was the only one remotely of age to apply for retirement benefits. So if you want to know who's bankrupting Social Security, look to the young scam artists in our society.

I am a volunteer youth basketball coach, and in an attempt to find a gym for my team to practice at, I contacted a local school with a basketball gym. They let me use the gym last year to practice. However, I was told that this year I have to pay $250 to use their gym. It's a bit ridiculous that I am now asked to pay to do volunteer work.
