VALDOSTA — Valdosta could really use a natural health food grocer!

If you would like to know what an Industrial Authority or similar groups do for a community, I recommend the book “Free Lunch” by David Johnston. Ever wonder why taxpayers pay for the FAA, air traffic controllers, airport construction and airport security? It’s simple; so the airlines don’t have to pay. Works well for the airlines. We are talking about “big food stamps.”

I would just like to thank everyone who helped my daughter and I after we got into an accident on Park Avenue in November especially an EMT named Angie who stayed with me until they got me out of my vehicle. Thank you all and God bless.

I wonder why Headstart can’t keep kids on their list for the upcoming year? Is it because Headstart is coming to the  end of their road?

Congratulations to the Valdosta High School debate team for their performance at the Jimmy Carter Invitational. You make us proud here in Valdosta.

A big thank you  to County Commissioner Crawford Powell for raising the speed limit back to 55 miles per hour except when the lights are flashing. Way to go.

An older beggar set up his begging business on the corner of Murray Road and Oak Street Extension. At the end of his business day, he left his litter. The cops know it’s him. Ticket him. Fine him. Give him a pink hi-vis GLITTERER vest and have him pick up the endless massive amounts of litter on the roadsides surrounding Walmart for a week.

I took two people; one who believed in global warming and one who did not believe. I had them each argue with a pine tree about the matter for 30 minutes; then I had them argue with each other for 30 minutes. At the end of the hour, they were mad at each other, neither had changed their mind, but neither of them was mad at the pine tree. Be a pine tree, just sit there and listen to the dummies argue. No one will be mad at you.

How in the world could any pastor allow men to play on their church softball teams at Freedom Park and almost the whole team doesn’t go to church there or anywhere? Isn’t that against the rules?

Thank you, Mayor Gayle, for hitting the nail on the head about lack of funding to repair the Wastewater Treatment Plant. When citizens vote against raising revenue, then the only alternative is to increase water/sewer rates. Mayor Gayle, we appreciate that you care for our city’s elderly and those on fixed incomes who can’t afford a doubling or tripling of their water/sewer bills. SPLOST is funded by out-of-town sales tax, and protects the most financially vulnerable of our citizens.

We don’t need Muslims flying airplanes around South Georgia. That is asking for trouble.

I was appalled to see where the mayor blamed the current administration for not providing grants to fix the sewage problem because “we voted wrong.” These problems didn’t begin in 2009, they have existed all along every time the water flow exceeded the ability of the plant to contain flooding issues. My question would be how many grants were awarded for the necessary repairs when “we voted right”? Why hasn’t the problem been solved already?

If zoning is there to protect the businesses and residents who are already there, why is the Lake Park elected officials wanting to approve a change that does not benefit the people who are already there? Shame on Lake Park mayor and council.

Valdosta Daily Times, you have done a remarkable job in keeping our community posted about the waste treatment situation. Please look into our gasoline crisis situation. I just returned from Florida where I bought gasoline 20 cents per gallon cheaper than what is being charged in Valdosta. Something is wrong with this picture.

I want to thank Brittney who has been my family’s favorite waitress at Cheddar’s since they opened their doors. Saturday night was no exception. She never lost her composure while I witnessed some crude treatment from the customers seated near us. Keep your head up.

VDT, please refrain from posting gun control comments. My son and I were at breakfast and he mentioned the low price of assault rifles at a gun show. I said that I was opposed to these. Two fellows overheard this and on their way out, the larger one said that I sounded like some the "communists" writing against America in the newspaper. He said that if were up to him I would be “lined up.” He got into a dilapidated Dodge pickup with anti-Obama, pro NRA, and a Baptist Church bumper sticker.

It wasn’t  Remerton where  the rats were escaping to Azalea Drive, it was  from the raw sewage. At least  they are smarter than people.
