Rant & Rave for Tuesday, July 15, 2014

-- — I think that all facilities owned by the city and county should have signs banning firearms in the buildings. I don’t feel safe if a firearm is there when I am there.

Asking teachers and parents to come clean the school campuses? During summer break? After being furloughed? Who cleans the Board of Education campus?

Doctors bill and want as much as they can squeeze out of the insurance companies. That is why we are in this mess, partly. They expect three times the amount they should get for five minutes of rushing you.

Sure do wish Smok’n Pig would move to the old Sonny’s location in Lake Park!

Every business should be required to have a purse holder hook in the restroom. It doesn’t cost much ...

Well, it now seems I am a terrible liberal to a “friend” because I emailed him to ask if he knew someone who would cut a limb that was threatening my home for a reasonable fee. Excuse me!

As a Hahira resident, while I agree that some information about the purposed annexation was lacking, I want our elected officials to know that I am one for growth. The narrow-minded residents that are against growth, are against it for one simple reason. When communities grow, people bring in new ideas and new ways of doing business. When that happens these narrow-minded “hillbillies” lose their power base in the community. I appeal to the property owners, show up next time at the council meeting, make your intentions known!

Where is this nonsense about troops in Afghanistan only getting two meals a day coming from? Although it maybe true since the U.S. is pulling out of Afghanistan, some of the hot meals are not as plentiful, but they all have access to four meals a day, as always. Did anyone think when they volunteered for the military it was Club Med? No they didn’t! I can assure you they understand why some hot meals are not available, even if the anti-Obama crowd wants to create more lies to put down the President.

It seems people in this town, and especially those in my church are not happy unless they are complaining about something. Today’s earth-shaking rant is that the choir members are too noisy when they change into their robes before the Mass. Give it a rest or you won’t have a choir.

Funny, the people criticizing immigrants coming here looking for a better life for their family, are only here because their ancestors immigrated here for a better life for their family.

Of the proposed 75 million that is needed to teach the students of Lowndes County for one school year, 55 million of that goes towards salaries. I don't want to hear no complaints about teachers salaries or furloughs again.

Is it another sign of the times that people are too lazy to send thank you notes? I’ve bought four wedding gifts and two baby shower gifts since April 1. To date, I've received just one thank you note. It’s just good manners!

It cracks me up when people say they don't want to be in a business or location where people are carrying weapons. My husband is a police officer and when he's off duty, he always carries concealed. I have a strong feeling that you might be happy one day that one of the hundreds of off duty officers are "packing" if you ever have a need for them!

People rant on here, but don't bother to attend the County Commission's meeting about the tax increase. I bet you don't vote either. If not, you forfeit your chance to gripe. Just hush!

Some hillbillies have more money than you do, they just don't flaunt it. Most are hard working, good people, unlike the wealthier, selfish, spoiled, inconsiderate brats. You can lose all your money and education in a blink of an eye. Be thankful God has allowed you to be or have what you do and treat others as you want them to treat you.

Bring back Ronald Reagan, he cut taxes and only raised the federal debt limit 17 times to do it!

It’s a shame to work for someone who gripes all the time. Never a “How are you” or “Thanks for your hard work!”
