Rant & Rave for Tuesday, June 11, 2013

-- — Closing the trash drop off was a big mistake. I live in Stone Creek so now I can’t put anything beside the street, now I have to haul it to the landfill and pay by weight. I had to pay $15, then I have to pay the trash pick up monthly. Something is wrong in this picture. I have a lot of yard waste, so now I have to take it to the landfill every time I clean yards.

Do you not understand that many people wait a few seconds after the light turns green, to prevent being hit, by some crazy person, running the red light. It happens all of the time. Being in a rush to go after the green, could be hazardous to your health!

I agree that people in Valdosta do not know how to drive and that is the fault of the DMV and police department. Enforcement and education are the keys to safer streets. I think the VDT should print a rule or lesson every day.

To the person who found and stole my wallet at Publix Perimeter and left it at An Even Greater Divide: Thanks for returning the memorable contents (pictures, prayer card, etc.). I hope you spent the money you stole on something you needed. Thanks to the owner of An Even Greater Divide for finding and calling me about finding it.

A second autopsy? Why can’t you just let that poor child rest in peace?

Unfortunately, the person who does the majority of the work is least paid and appreciated. As always, the owner and his right-hand man reap the rewards, while the hard workers do their jobs and get blamed for their mistakes. One can only hope they reap what they sow.

To the Vacation Bible School in the park, I appreciated the first time you invited our children to participate with you, however the fifth time you invited them was, quite frankly, annoying. One “no thank you” should be sufficient.

Funny, the people criticizing immigrants coming here looking for a better life for their family, are only here because their ancestors immigrated here for a better life for their family.

Of the proposed 75 million that is needed to teach the students of Lowndes County for one school year, 55 million of that goes towards salaries. I don't want to hear no complaints about teachers salaries or furloughs again.

Is it another sign of the times that people are too lazy to send thank you notes? I’ve bought four wedding gifts and two baby shower gifts since April 1. To date, I've received just one thank you note. It’s just good manners!

It cracks me up when people say they don't want to be in a business or location where people are carrying weapons. My husband is a police officer and when he's off duty, he always carries concealed. I have a strong feeling that you might be happy one day that one of the hundreds of off duty officers are "packing" if you ever have a need for them!

People rant on here, but don't bother to attend the County Commission's meeting about the tax increase. I bet you don't vote either. If not, you forfeit your chance to gripe. Just hush!

Some hillbillies have more money than you do, they just don't flaunt it. Most are hard working, good people, unlike the wealthier, selfish, spoiled, inconsiderate brats. You can lose all your money and education in a blink of an eye. Be thankful God has allowed you to be or have what you do and treat others as you want them to treat you.

Bring back Ronald Reagan, he cut taxes and only raised the federal debt limit 17 times to do it!

It’s a shame to work for someone who gripes all the time. Never a “How are you” or “Thanks for your hard work!”

I think that all facilities owned by the city and county should have signs banning firearms in the buildings. I don’t feel safe if a firearm is there when I am there.

There are some wealthy physicians, business owners in this town who target only certain demographics for their business, and reject competition and growth. With the new statistics of a shrinking Valdosta, I hope you and your selfishness are quite happy when your comfort zone disappears!
