-- — I'm so disappointed with this town! No where to breastfeed a newborn anywhere! Can’t even go to the mall and find a place to breastfeed. Come on Valdosta, get with the program! Offer areas for moms to be able to feed their babies out in public! It’s a shame you can travel to Gainesville, Fla., and everywhere you go offers private areas to breastfeed.
In Wednesday’s paper, Chief Childress was quoted as saying the Valdosta population had increased from 43,724 in 2000 to 57,597 in 2012. That is about a 33 percent increase. Are those numbers accurate? If that rate continues in 2024, we will have about 77,000. How will the support services keep up?
I now know two successful entrepreneurs in the state who each opened one branch of their business in Valdosta and swore they’d never put in another. Zoning, inspections, and red tape at City Hall. We elect so called “businessmen” to office each time and the bureaucracy remains.
Re: Industrial Authority, let’s review. We now have a rep as a business unfriendly city with a bunch of enviro-ranters. It is easier to move to the next town than put up with that.
The article Wounded warrior battles life, career, competition in June 18 edition of VDT is one of the most uplifting heartbreaking stories I’ve ever read. The writing is super and puts the reader right there where this brave man and his family are living through a nightmare with the most astonishing grace I’ve ever had the privilege of reading. I will keep it handy to reread often.
The new turf is ugly. I do not think Coach Bazemore or Coach Hyder would be happy about this. The paw print looked great and so did the black and gold!
Let me make this easy for you to understand. Gornto Road is two lanes. I can’t move over and I’m not going to.
