Rant & Rave for Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013

-- — So let me get this straight: every year we get to listen about how we are in need of a SPLOST tax implement. These SPLOST people are like spoiled children who never leave home because Mommy and Daddy pay their way through life when they should’ve said no.

Does Brooks County not have their own rant & rave? I get tired of reading their complaints.

I am so sick of all the racist Obama rants. I vote for SPLOST. I work for a living but cannot afford healthcare, now I can. Do I not deserve to go to the doctor? So take your anti-Splost, anti-human being, tea party loving ignorance, and let the rest of us try to make a better world where people matter more than your opinions.

Perhaps the ranter talking about the word “fact” should read it in the dictionary. But let me save you the trouble, since your education level is obviously not up to par. According to Webster’s, a “fact” is “the quality of being actual, something that exists or occurs”. So, we waste a lot in local government, and I know this for a fact, voting no on SPLOST. Questions?

Everyone is constantly ranting about their favorite restaurants not coming to Valdosta. Enough already! How about a Fresh Market? The abandoned property at Five Points would be a great use for this. Let’s try to improve our health. One more buffet is not what is needed. Wake up people!!

As large and spacious as South Georgia Medical Center is, you would think that there is a more appropriate place to conduct interviews than in the Spice of Life (hospital snack bar) where employees and patients can listen in on the interview.

I certainly haven’t agreed with all the projects funded by SPLOST; however, it makes common sense that everyone living in and traveling through our county share the cost of all the projects that still need to be completed. There are over 12,000 VSU students enrolled, and they also spend a lot of money here. I also don’t relish the thought of our property taxes going up.

Estimated that 10 percent of the U.S. population are career crooks, caught and not caught. Crime is the most logical career choice, all things considered. Because our governments (politicians) and their cronies have jiggled all systems to promote crime. That’s how 10 percent puts such fear in 90 percent. Causing great expense in security and causing the great self-defense gun debate.

I am very disappointed  with our commissioners who voted for this tax hike for Lowndes County. We voted for the SPLOST with an understanding we would not get a tax hike. Liar, liar, pants on fire, is what my mother used to say.

Here’s an idea. Learn basic math before posting numbers about crime rates. The US has 1 violent crime for every 26 citizens not 1 per 262. Geesh.

To the ranter about the A/C in the jails, you are 100 percent right. The male and females should be treated equal. Neither side should have any A/C. If I am struggling to put gas in the car to get to work to put food on my family’s table and not running our A/C to keep down our living cost then why should those parasites get their three squares a day, cable TV and A/C? Put them in tents and pink outfits and feed them PB&J that comes out of their own funds. Yes, just like Sheriff Joe out in Arizona.

It seems people in this town, and especially those in my church are not happy unless they are complaining about something. Today’s earth-shaking rant is that the choir members are too noisy when they change into their robes before the Mass. Give it a rest or you won’t have a choir.

Funny, the people criticizing immigrants coming here looking for a better life for their family, are only here because their ancestors immigrated here for a better life for their family.

Of the proposed 75 million that is needed to teach the students of Lowndes County for one school year, 55 million of that goes towards salaries. I don't want to hear no complaints about teachers salaries or furloughs again.

Is it another sign of the times that people are too lazy to send thank you notes? I’ve bought four wedding gifts and two baby shower gifts since April 1. To date, I've received just one thank you note. It’s just good manners!

It cracks me up when people say they don't want to be in a business or location where people are carrying weapons. My husband is a police officer and when he's off duty, he always carries concealed. I have a strong feeling that you might be happy one day that one of the hundreds of off duty officers are "packing" if you ever have a need for them!

People rant on here, but don't bother to attend the County Commission's meeting about the tax increase. I bet you don't vote either. If not, you forfeit your chance to gripe. Just hush!
