VALDOSTA — Old wives tales are old “WISE” tales!

I see where Mediacom has dropped WSB (Atlanta) from their Line-up. If you will notice what Mediacom does, it is a wonder they have anything left to watch. One month Mediacom will up the price a few dollars, then 2 or 3 months later they will drop a channel. If everyone would complain more, Mediacom would do what is right and stop their foolish ways. I plan on dropping them soon and subscribing to Dish or Direct since Mediacom won't listen to my complaints.

Since we are commenting on syndicated columnists carried by the VDT, let me sing the praises of Star Parker. Her wisdom and insight offer a beacon of hope for the black community not otherwise offered by so-called leaders of that demography. Her common sense approach to problems are a breath of fresh air as opposed to casting blame on others for a perceived slight.

I want to say thanks again to the brave and honest Valdosta fireman who found my son's wallet. He called us to meet and had the time to show us where it was so we could retrieve other important articles that were lost en-route to the bank. This world needs more of people like you! Thanks and God bless, North Oak Street Station.

Folks, cold snaps are a very normal part of winter. If you find yourself thinking it's too cold for global warming, just remember the daily weather is a different beast than climate. The steady rise in ocean temperatures indicate a long-standing rise in air temperature. It’s called climate change because it marks changes is temperature over years, not days.

You people with headlights below the bumper, often times called fog lights, need to turn them off unless it is actually foggy. It is like you have four headlights.

How in the world could any pastor allow men to play on their church softball teams at Freedom Park and almost the whole team doesn’t go to church there or anywhere? Isn’t that against the rules?

Thank you, Mayor Gayle, for hitting the nail on the head about lack of funding to repair the Wastewater Treatment Plant. When citizens vote against raising revenue, then the only alternative is to increase water/sewer rates. Mayor Gayle, we appreciate that you care for our city’s elderly and those on fixed incomes who can’t afford a doubling or tripling of their water/sewer bills. SPLOST is funded by out-of-town sales tax, and protects the most financially vulnerable of our citizens.

We don’t need Muslims flying airplanes around South Georgia. That is asking for trouble.

I was appalled to see where the mayor blamed the current administration for not providing grants to fix the sewage problem because “we voted wrong.” These problems didn’t begin in 2009, they have existed all along every time the water flow exceeded the ability of the plant to contain flooding issues. My question would be how many grants were awarded for the necessary repairs when “we voted right”? Why hasn’t the problem been solved already?

If zoning is there to protect the businesses and residents who are already there, why is the Lake Park elected officials wanting to approve a change that does not benefit the people who are already there? Shame on Lake Park mayor and council.

Valdosta Daily Times, you have done a remarkable job in keeping our community posted about the waste treatment situation. Please look into our gasoline crisis situation. I just returned from Florida where I bought gasoline 20 cents per gallon cheaper than what is being charged in Valdosta. Something is wrong with this picture.

I want to thank Brittney who has been my family’s favorite waitress at Cheddar’s since they opened their doors. Saturday night was no exception. She never lost her composure while I witnessed some crude treatment from the customers seated near us. Keep your head up.

VDT, please refrain from posting gun control comments. My son and I were at breakfast and he mentioned the low price of assault rifles at a gun show. I said that I was opposed to these. Two fellows overheard this and on their way out, the larger one said that I sounded like some the "communists" writing against America in the newspaper. He said that if were up to him I would be “lined up.” He got into a dilapidated Dodge pickup with anti-Obama, pro NRA, and a Baptist Church bumper sticker.

It wasn’t  Remerton where  the rats were escaping to Azalea Drive, it was  from the raw sewage. At least  they are smarter than people.
