The Valdosta Daily Times

-- — Whatever happened to the rule of “you talk, you walk?” Medical offices and hospitals should reinforce this strictly as it used to be. Signing a privacy act paper is a big joke.

Let's see if I've got this straight. City has $304 million in the bank. They owe $69 million. That leaves $235 million in the bank. Not enough to build $90 million new plant. Must be that New Math. Must get loan and pay interest. Plus, if SPLOST doesn't pass in Nov., then raise property taxes 50 percent for this year, that works!

Coach McPherson, can you please schedule better non-region games? It can be done. There are plenty of quality teams that would love a chance to play Lowndes.

With the Chamber getting into so much that it has no business getting into, I wonder how many of their board members are getting to have input into these things. As a former board member, my guess is that it is made only to look like they are the ones backing it.

The Mayor’s 4.4 to 1 ratio might be great in business but unless the City plans on selling off their infrastructure it is meaningless. Since the City is big on Plan B's, how about setting up an Adopt a Sewer Line program? I am sure all the civic clubs will jump in to help out.

There are none so blind as those who will not see. If you cannot see the compassion and caring in President Obama, it is only because you don't want to see it. He has gone to the people that are hurting, he has offered much compassion and prayers. He has tried so hard to get Congress to pass some meaningful gun legislation, to keep our people safe. I have seen nothing but compassion and kindness from him, even in the face of adversity.

I often wonder what our “hell” will be. What will take us down. I used to think it would be our refusal to believe in global warming. But now I am convinced that it will be greed. Greed from Wall Street and the wealthy for more and more wealth to the point of obliterating the middle class and the poor, the greed of the NRA for more and more money no matter the cost in human lives, the greed of those in public office to keep their seat in exchange for their very souls. God help us.

Have some compassion for the victims and families of the wrecks by not reporting those. I know you want the gossip to stick your nose in, but that is just wrong and not good reporting.
