Rant & Rave for Monday, May 5, 2008
I can’t wait to watch “COPS” one day and see a whole episode of our local law- enforcement chasing trash criminals of Lowndes County. It will be fun to see high-speed chases with trash blowing out of the back of pickup trucks, people dumping their trash in business dumpsters and people making excuses why they are out at 1 a.m. illegally dumping trash on some dead-end dirt road. Get the popcorn and soda ready for a good night of family entertainment.
What happened to the spraying for mosquitoes? They are about to carry us away.
For a town that says they are pro-military and support the troops, where was the homecoming for the 823rd who just came home from Iraq? Thanks for nothing.
High gas prices are not the result of a Bush-Cheney "conspiracy" or leftist environmental groups. It is the product of a weak dollar, increased international demand and our own nation’s self-defeating refusal to drill at home and build more refineries. Put together, that spells high prices.
Failing: Education system, medical system, economy, housing market. Prisons overloaded, people need life and health insurance, elderly not being taken care of, veterans in trouble, eco-system damaged. Candidates, pick an issue. Nobody cares about your personal lives or what someone has to say about the other. Let's get busy on some real issues.
Support our troops? The living conditions in Ft. Bragg for our new vets is just another example of the lack of support that our veterans get from either the general public, government, VA or anyone else in this country. The atrocities committed against veterans today is just overwhelming and Ft. Bragg is the perfect example of the general attitude toward veterans in this country. They should never come home to what they have come home to and have to endure for years afterwards.
Can anyone explain why the city of Valdosta spends 80 cents to mail my single sheet utility bill in a flat 9x12 envelope rather than 41 cents for a normal envelope, please? Also, a return envelope would be a nice touch if you want me to send you payment. Put the excess postage toward envelopes.
Shame on you people for threatening illegal dumping. There is no real personal satisfaction in that. Do the right thing. Go to the next public meeting and stand up to be counted.
