What could be better than a weekend with two high school homecoming games tonight, followed by the National Championship Blazers playing at home for the first time this year at 7 p.m. Saturday night?
For football fans, the answer should be that it doesn’t get much better than this.
The Wildcats face Newton and the Vikings go up against Hardaway tonight for their Homecoming battles. No doubt the stadiums will be packed with enthusiastic fans and alumni, cheering on their alma maters and favorite teams.
It should prove to be an outstanding night of high school gridiron action.
Tomorrow, that action will continue as football fans can see their own college championship team face Shorter College.
Valdosta State has played one game this season and more than 3,000 fans followed the team to Macon to see the Blazers play Ft. Valley, which is more fans than they once attracted to the stadium in Valdosta. What an outstanding display of support from the local community for the championship team! And hopefully, the beginning of a new trend for Blazer football.
VSU has the burden of high expectations on the team to win back to back championships, and fan support can make all the difference for the players’ morale and spirit. Filling the stadium Saturday night for their first home game of the year would be a great way to demonstrate your support.
It’s a Titletown weekend here in Valdosta, Ga.
