What We Think: Make informed vote in elections

The Valdosta Daily Times

- — As of late last week, several hundred citizens had taken advantage of early voting for municipal elections in Lowndes County. Early voting continues this week from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the following week from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Lowndes County Board of Elections Office, 2808 N. Oak St.

Election Day is Nov. 5.

With thousands of people living in Valdosta, Dasher, Hahira, Lake Park and Remerton, many people have yet to vote. All registered Lowndes County voters have a say in the SPLOST VII referendum.

In today’s editions of The Times, we hope to shed more light on these races. In this issue, readers will find a series of in-depth, question-and-answer interviews with candidates. We hope this will help voters make more informed decisions as they travel to the polls in the coming days and weeks.

If you are resident of one of Lowndes County’s cities, learn as much as you can about each candidate then make an informed decision at the polls. For all Lowndes County residents, whether living inside or outside of a municipality, learn all you can about SPLOST VII and make your vote based on an informed decision.

One vote can make a difference, and like all elections, this vote will make a difference for our region for years to come.
