Breast cancer survivors can celebrate their victory with the Pink Party this weekend.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s an opportunity for the public to learn more about breast cancer — the available treatments, the best methods of detection, the brave stories of survivors, the importance of regular mammograms and breast checks.
There are also several events designed to raise awareness and have fun in the process of informing the public and raising funds. Last week, the Valdosta-based Get A Mammy organization held its annual event.
This weekend, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority hosts the Pink Party.
Called “a celebration of breast cancer survivors,” the event will collect wigs to be donated to the Pearlman Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The Pink Party features all things pink. Past Pink Party events have featured pink balloons, pink flowers, pink lemonade and pink gifts.
Pink is the color representing Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is the color representing hope for one day finding a breast cancer cure. When that day comes, there will be quite a party indeed.
Pink Party is scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 306 North, 306 N. Patterson St. More information, RSVP: Call (229) 630-2683.
