THUMBS UP: To South Georgia Regional Library patrons who shared appreciation for the staff and services. The library asked Lowndes, Lanier and Echols patrons to write what they liked about their respective libraries on heart-shaped messages. More than 400 library patrons took the time to share what made the library system special to them. The majority of the hearts mentioned library staff.
THUMBS UP: To Joanne Griner. Area friends are throwing a celebration for Griner today to celebrate the 80th birthday of the woman who started the Azalea Festival, helped start Theatre Guild Valdosta, and has been involved in numerous area activities. The open-house reception is 3-6 p.m. today, Hildegard’s, 101 E. Central Ave.
THUMBS UP: To the folks from throughout South Georgia and North Florida and visitors from other states as well, who attended the annual Taste of Home Cooking School this past week. Sponsored by The Valdosta Daily Times, Publix, and Home Depot, more than 600 people attended the popular cooking show led by Taste of Home culinary specialist Michelle “Red” Roberts.
THUMBS UP: To the 20th Annual Exceptional Kids Rodeo in Nashville at the Berrien County Saddle Club. This miniature rodeo for regional children kicks off the weekend’s professional rodeo that continues today. The Exceptional Kids Rodeo stands as a testament to Nashville-Berrien’s exceptional quality of character and to the American ideals of living the cowboy way.
