The Valdosta Daily Times
THUMBS UP: To the continued success of the Lake Park Life After Fifty Dinner and Dance. Last weekend, nearly 50 participants joined the holiday-themed festivities to dance and socialize into the night. These dances are held the last Saturday of the month every other month. It provided a fun way to say farewell to the old year and will keep folks dancing throughout the new year.
THUMBS UP: To Jack and Deborah Skelly who rescued three beagles and gave them homes. The Skellys’ example should serve as a reminder that many animals need a loving home and there are plenty of animals that need rescuing.
THUMBS UP: To the businesses and individuals that make Relay for Life a success each year. Though there are still a few months before the annual cancer-awareness event, planning has already begun. At 6 p.m., Jan. 15, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, Relay for Life hosts the annual Passion Party to garner more support for the event.
THUMBS UP: To the Valdosta-based Mailbox Club for its continued support of missions worldwide. In addition to spreading messages of faith, a Valdosta visit this week by an Asian missionary served as a reminder that the club’s materials, which are printed in dozens of languages, are also instrumental in teaching children how to read.
